What’s the New ‘Comb-Over’ For Men Chasing Their Youth?

We found this amusing. According to the NY Post, when it comes to male midlife crises, the flashy sports car is old hat. The skateboard has now become the preferred vehicle for recapturing one’s youth.

39-year-old IT specialist Cyril Therien, skateboards are a “chick magnet.” He tells the NY Post: “I’m a suit — on a skateboard … Women like anything that’s unusual — and this is edgy without being over-the-top.”

According to a New York skateboard shop, half of its business lately has been coming from middle-aged men—lawyers, bankers, media guys, and they all have one or two kids. They tend to buy multiple boards at a time, priced at $250 a piece.

But before you go and spend the money, make sure you know what you’re doing. Apparently, it’s easy to spot a poser: “You can always tell who’s in a midlife crisis,” says Jeremy Hill, 24, a lifelong boarder from Bed-Stuy. “They’re the guys who just have money to burn, who just buy the really expensive longboard, and try to show off, ‘I’m cool, just like you.’ ”
