6.) Baldness Reversal
That cup of coffee just might help stimulate your hair to grow again – if you pour it on your head. Caffeine has been shown to stimulate hair follicles and cause growth, but it would take about 60 cups of coffee to get enough in your system for it to work internally. If you want more hair but don’t want to die from caffeine toxicity (yes, it’s a thing), some caffeinated shampoos are on the market. Because you’re applying these to your scalp, the caffeine from these shampoos will absorb into your bloodstream, so you might feel some of the effects.
7.) Lowers Cancer Risk
Caffeine appears to protect you from the C-word, too. Most of these studies use coffee and tea – not soda or energy drinks – to be the main sources of caffeinated protection. Coffee is specifically linked to the protection against mouth and throat cancer, liver cancer, colorectal cancer, and skin cancer.
The American Institute for Cancer Research counts coffee among its foods that fight cancer, although all of these results are probably from the antioxidant-loaded coffee beans rather than the actual caffeine.
8.) Lowers Parkinson’s disease Risk
In the past decade or so, numerous studies have linked a higher intake of caffeine in men with a lower incidence of Parkinson’s disease. And so far it’s appeared that the more the caffeine the less the risk. Now they are going so far as to say it might even be a realistic treatment for its management.
**Cautionary notes**: Some people are extremely caffeine sensitive, so if you think this might be you it might be worth reading through its risks. Also, if your caffeinated beverage is loaded with sugar or bad fats, you might not be getting the full health benefits.
