Ear, Nose & Back Hair… Now What? Manscaping Tips for Getting Rid of Unsightly Hair

The Monthly Method: Waxing the Hair Away

Waxing is a decent option for back hair. The cost is around $50 per session. The treatment lasts for around a month and while it hurts a bit, it’s manageable if done by someone who has experience. It’s actually possible to eradicate back hair through waxing, but it can take 5+ years and dozens of treatments. There can also be issues for some men with skin irritation and in-grown hairs that make this a net negative. Bottom line, if you don’t have gray back hair and you don’t think you ever want back hair again, laser hair removal is probably the best way to go.

ForMen Take: Waxing is a solid solution for back hair, if you don’t qualify for laser, or don’t want to spend the money (e.g. some people just do one or two back waxes through the summer months and call it a day.)

Hair Removal Creams

Hair Removal Creams (officially called depilatory creams) are specifically formulated to remove hair from the body. They contain chemicals that break down the bonds in the keratin, weakening the hair at the point where it extends from the follicle. The hair can then be simply and painlessly wiped away – in most cases.

These creams can work for hair removal on the back, nose and even ears, but there are issues with allergic reactions and skin irritations for some as well a strong odor to deal with. And for the back, you have the same issue as with trimming; you’ll need someone to help you out.

ForMen Take: Might be worth a look for nose and ear hair, but we think there are better solutions for the back.
