Good news for those of us who have both gluttonous habits and a caffeine addiction: According to new research, drinking two cups of coffee per day nearly halves your risk of developing liver cirrhosis, a type of liver damage you get when you consume excessive amounts of food and alcohol.

Researchers came to this conclusion by analyzing nine previously published studies on associations between coffee consumption and cirrhosis.

There are still a lot of unanswered questions about this study, so you probably shouldn’t take this to mean you should just drink coffee to prevent liver damage. But there have been a lot of recent studies touting the health benefits of coffee, and this may be another one of them.
