A not-so-new drink for ailing kids is trending among adults these days. That’s right, good ‘ol Pedialyte.
Pharrell Williams claims to drink it every day, and Miley Cyrus recently took a selfie with it. And according to new numbers from Nielson, adult usage has jumped by nearly 60% since 2012.
So what’s the deal with Pedialyte? It turns out its abundance of electrolytes and minerals makes for a great hangover cure. (Pedialyte packs roughly 100 calories, 1,035 milligrams of sodium, and 780 milligrams of potassium in just 32 ounces. Whereas, Gatorade has 240 calories, 420 milligrams of sodium, and 140 milligrams of potassium.)
When you drink alcohol or you become dehydrated, you lose key electrolytes and minerals, so it makes sense that a drink like Pedialyte would be able kick a hangover to the curb.
Combine this with naps and chocolate milk and we’ve come full circle to our youth.
