Revolutionary New Procedure Could Replace Reading Glasses

Just like the LASIK procedure was a game changer for sufferers of farsightedness more than a decade ago, a new procedure claims to be able to similarly alleviate the need for reading glasses.

Called the KAMRA inlay, the 20-minute procedure inserts a small, plastic-like disc, about one-third the size of a contact lens and one-fourth the thickness a human hair into one of the patient’s corneas. Recovery sounds to be a breeze, and the best part is that the procedure is completely reversible. It costs around $5,000 (whereas a typical pair of prescription reading glasses costs about $200), and is not typically covered by insurance.

Obviously, long-term effects haven’t been studied, so we don’t know if complications could arise years down the line, but for now – this seems like a great option if you’re looking to get rid of your reading glasses!
