The Right Haircut For Your Face Shape

It’s not always easy to find the most flattering way to wear your hair—most styles are not “one size fits all” and their success (or failure) depend on the guy’s face shape. Before getting a new ‘do, it’s a good idea to ask your stylist if he or she thinks the haircut you want would suit your face shape. If the answer is no, ask how it can be tweaked to work for you.

Here are also some basic guidelines based on your face shape:

Oval face shape: You are lucky. The only thing to avoid is a full-length fringe, as this can make the face appear rounder.

Square face shape: You have a strong jawline, which makes the face appear chiseled and angular in appearance. Tight, short haircuts looks great, but stay away from a center part or a heavy fringe.

Oblong face shape: Slightly longer than an oval, it’s best to avoid taking the sides too short if you want to keep length on top, as this would accentuate the length of the face and it make it appear even longer.

Round face shape: A round face has no angles or prominent lines, therefore it’s important to choose a style that can be worn with a bit of height.

Diamond face shape: You have wide, prominent cheekbones and fairly narrow foreheads and chins. Many guys with a diamond face suit having their hair longer. Try choosing a haircut with a swept fringe and layers on top to add volume.

Heart face shape: Your face is wide at the temples so, like the diamond face shape, it would work well with longer hair styles. A great way to balance a heart shaped face would be to grow some form of facial hair. Stubble or a short beard would help maintain the proportions between the upper and lower halves of the face.

Triangular face shape: The opposite of a heart shaped face, men with this shape have a wide jawline and narrow forehead. Unfortunately, it’s very difficult to choose a hairstyle to go with this face shape. Try going for longer hairstyles but with plenty of layers to add width and volume on top. A slight fringe could also help soften the silhouette.
